Govt of India lunched a new website "Cashless India" promoting digital payments under Digital India programme.

With the aim to promote Digital Payments and converting India to a less-cash society, a large number of policy and implementation initiatives are being taken by the Government for its procurement, service offering and disbursements.

The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. “Faceless, Paperless, Cashless” is one of professed role of Digital India.

As part of promoting cashless transactions and converting India into less-cash society, various modes of digital payments are available.

₹ 8,44,982 crore of amount exchanged/deposited from November 10, 2016 to November 27, 2016

Consequent to the announcement of withdrawal of legal tender status of banknotes of ₹ 500 and ₹1000 denominations from the midnight of November 8, 2016, the Reserve Bank of India made arrangements for exchange and/or deposit of such notes at the counters of the Reserve Bank and commercial banks, Regional Rural banks and Urban Cooperative Banks. Such exchange/deposits effected from November 10, 2016 upto November 27, 2016 amounted to ₹ 8,44,982 crore (exchange amounted to ₹ 33,948 crore and deposits amounted to ₹ 8,11,033 crore) as in RBI's press release. It is also stated that the public have withdrawn, during this period, ₹ 2,16,617 crore from their accounts either over the counter or through ATMs.

Anytime: New messaging app by Amazon

Amazon possibly working on new stand-alone messaging app called Anytime.  Despite there being dozens of different apps in the category, many of them have managed to garner millions of users. It appears as though Amazon wants a piece of the action and is working on their own stand-alone messaging app called Anytime. Amazon has begun surveying customers about a new messaging service to gauge which features are most important to users. In a landmark decision, following the introduction of single medical entrance exam in the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfarehas now made provision for common counselling at the State level for admissionto medical courses at the under graduate and post graduate levels. As per the amendments made in the relevant regulations of MCI, the designated authority at the State/UT level shall conduct common counselling for all medical education institutions in the State whether established by the Central Government, State Government, University, Deemed University, Trust, Society, Company, Minority Institutions or Corporation.
