Govt of India lunched a new website "Cashless India" promoting digital payments under Digital India programme.

With the aim to promote Digital Payments and converting India to a less-cash society, a large number of policy and implementation initiatives are being taken by the Government for its procurement, service offering and disbursements.

The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. “Faceless, Paperless, Cashless” is one of professed role of Digital India.

As part of promoting cashless transactions and converting India into less-cash society, various modes of digital payments are available.

The Central Government has launched ‘ Vidyanjali ’, a School Volunteer programme on 16th June, 2016 & issued necessary guidlelines.  Vidyanjali is an initiative to involve people from- Indian Diaspora Retired teachers Retired government officials including retired defence personnel Retired professionals and Women who are home makers, Having graduation degree to strengthen co-scholastic activities in schools such as reading in Government run elementary schools through the services of volunteers across the country under the overall aegis of the Sarva Shikhsa Abhiyan (SSA).

Public Wifi Hotspot across India

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released an Architecture and Specification document for the Nation Wide WI-Fi Network named “Public Wifi Pilot” on dated 7 th July 2017. Through the scheme TRAI lays down the foundation for setting up nationwide public wifi network. TRAI aims to set up large number of public wifi hotspots across the country. This network architecture is built around an Open Architecture based Wifi Access Network Interface (WANI) that facilitates partition of public data office (PDO) provides, access point hardware/software providers, application providers etc. For more visit  www.trai.gov.in
