NEET-UG or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test
NEET-UG or NationalEligibility cum Entrance Test is an entrance examination for any graduate medical course (MBBS), dental course (BDS) in government or private medical colleges in India and it will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

• NEET-UG
replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams
conducted by states or colleges themselves and NEET is introduced to create an
umbrella or single entrance exam for all medical aspirants in India.
• Initially NEET
was proposed in year 2012. But Supreme Court of India cancelled the NEET exam
on 18th July 2013. So, on 4th May 2014, CBSE planned to re-conduct AIPMT. However,
it was restored on April 11, 2016. The Supreme Court in May 2016 again gave the
green signal for the CBSE to hold National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET)
2016-17 in two phases. First phase was held on 1st May 2016 and 2nd
phase on 24th July 2016.
• Out of 25 different Medical Entrance Examinations in India, on an average, a student appears in 7-9 entrance exams, thereby causing challenge of preparing for different syllabi and patterns for students which further increase stress among students. Moreover so many exams creates lot of financial burden for the parents since each examination involves expenses like Application Fee & commuting to appear for the entrance test in various cities / at various test centers.
