Volunteer Teachers under SSA

The Central Government has launched ‘Vidyanjali’, a School Volunteer programme on 16th June, 2016 & issued necessary guidlelines. Vidyanjali is an initiative to involve people from-

  • Indian Diaspora
  • Retired teachers
  • Retired government officials including retired defence personnel
  • Retired professionals and
  • Women who are home makers,
Having graduation degree to strengthen co-scholastic activities in schools such as reading in Government run elementary schools through the services of volunteers across the country under the overall aegis of the Sarva Shikhsa Abhiyan (SSA).

Volunteers under the programme will offer their services to Government schools through an online portal developed by MyGov.in. These Volunteers will conduct one or more co-scholastic activities with children in standard 1 to 8 such as
  • Reading to children
  • Helping children with creative writing
  • Public speaking
  • Play acting and
  • Preparing story books.

The programme is being implemented on a pilot basis across 21 States and UTs.

Amazon Teens Login : Teens can make purchases from their own login at Amazon

Amazon has expanded their Household options to now allow a kid ages between 13-17 years the option to use their own account to shop on Amazon. The catch is that parents will be notified of all purchases via text message or email and will, by default, have to approve each purchase. When teens make a purchase, they have the option to include a note that their parent will receive. By default, parents will need to approve or deny all purchases made by teens and they can do so by simply replying “Y” or “N” to a text message from Amazon about the purchase, or via email. The message includes the item ordered, cost, shipping address, and payment information. Instead of having to approve or deny each purchase, parents can instead set a spending limit for their child that allows them to make purchases without approval.
