Changes in the syllabus of Civil Services (Prelims), UPSC

Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh stated in a written reply to a question by Shri Ramsinh Rathwa in the Lok Sabha on 15th March 2017 that the changes in the syllabus of Civil Services (Prelims) took place from Civil Services Examination (CSE), 2011 followed by changes in the Civil Services (Main) from CSE 2013 in which



From CSE 2015 on wards, the General Studies Paper-II of the preliminary examination was made qualifying with minimum marks fixed at 33%. Further, UPSC has constituted an Expert Committee under chairmanship of Shri B.S. Baswan to comprehensively examine the various issues, raised from time to time regarding the CSE, with respect to the eligibility, syllabus, scheme and pattern of the Examination vide notice dated 12.08.2015. The report of Baswan Committee is currently under the consideration of the UPSC and the recommendations of the UPSC on the report are yet to be received.
